Elephant Ears and Little Girls:

When you're little, the world appears to be a beautiful, magical place filled with unicorns, dragons, fairytales and prince charming... Images that all but fade entirely away when you grow up, because your dreams cease or your heart feels its first break.

I still like to believe in unicorns and dragons, but prince charming was just an ordinary man. Who's to say that he rescued a damsel in distress? Maybe she didn't need rescuing at all. Maybe she could've saved herself or been intelligent enough never to find herself in such a predicament.

Sometimes, the rescuing you need is finding yourself, living your dreams, forgetting that one thing that made you weak... Remembering what defines you and disregarding the ones that sever the pieces. Because, maybe you don't need saving anymore than a fish needs land.

"I used to believe Cinderella got with Prince Charming, but charming wasn't what he was - just a name. Did the Little Mermaid get with that guy on land? No, but Beauty certainly got her beast. And, Sleeping Beauty was eaten by a dragon, I think." (c)
